what would you Do about a Vacqueyras?

I was ready to settle down for the evening, when my friend and wine vendor, Aline Aline Thiebaut texted me that she had a box of wines ready for me to taste. She had seen an account or two, and now it was my turn. I opened the box, lined up the wines on our kitchen table. My darling Alice was enjoying dinner at her sister Shirley’s house, so it was our puppy Riley and me.

I lined up the wines and I found this sumptuous red wine: 2021 Labadens MARIUS VACQUEYRAS. Stopping me in my tracks, I sniff, swirled, and zip…Volia! It was pleasure in a glass! 92 POINTS, WILFRED WONG. (Tasted: March 13, 2026, San Francisco, CA)

The 2021 Labadens MARIUS VACQUEYRAS is medium ruby in color, this Rhône red opens with bold black fruit aromas showing very good depth. Medium bodied yet full across the palate, it carries a pleasing tannic grip with dry character and medium acidity in a nicely balanced frame. Flavors of dark berries, licorice, and a touch of oak build toward a firm, satisfying finish. A cool pairing: slow-braised lamb shanks with rosemary, garlic, and black olives — the wine’s dark fruit and savory notes beautifully echo the dish’s rich, Provençal flavors. (Best Served: 2027-2036) [SOURCING: France, Vacqueyras] [COMPOSITION: 80% Grenache, 20% Syrah] [TECHNICAL: 14% alcohol] Estate Bottled by EMB 840121 for Labadens - France; Imported by Aline Wines - San Diego, CA

Many long-time wine lovers have enjoyed the joys of Vacqueyras. For those who haven’t, now is your chance.
Salud!
